Reggies wrapup

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Thanks to everyone who came out to Reggies last night.  We had a great crowd which always makes for a great show.

Extra special thanks to Dana Okon of The Quilts for bailing out Robert “Backup Guitars are for Pussies” Smith after he busted a string on the “You Wakeup” solo. (Maybe a little less shred next time, Yngwie. )

We’ll be back out again in January. Until then, we’re going to be recording some new stuff for the website for you all to enjoy at home.

Veipa Cray back in studio

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

We’ve headed back to the studio to record a few more tracks.   We’re working on three songs: “Derelict”, “Love Thy Neighbor”, and “You Wake Up”.    “Derelict” is an older Veipa Cray song originally written before Ben and I joined the band.   We pulled the song out of the archives and re-worked it to include an addictive slow build of intensity.    Tracking is almost complete for “Derelict”…look for it soon on the webpage.    “Love Thy Neighbor” is a completely new song featuring an underlying groove and thoughtful yet provocative lyrics that began as one of Scott’s ideas.   “You Wake Up” captures the feel and energy of a live Veipa Cray performance with a strong lead guitar and rock solid rhythm section.

We hope to have all three of these songs fully recorded and on the main page of the Veipa Cray site in the very near future.    We will be performing all three songs at our November 21st gig at Reggies.   Info for the Reggies gig can be found here.    Come on out to the show,  let us know what you think of the new material and start your Thanksgiving week early with live Veipa Cray music.
